Tom Casey (Chairman)
Chairman of The Board
Tom Casey was appointed Pacific Crossing’s Chairman of The Board in 2008. He concurrently holds the positions of CEO and member of the Board of Directors of Current Group, LLC - a Broadband Over Powerline (BPL) company which provides broadband, telecom services and Smart Grid services to electric utilities in multiple countries. Prior to joining Current Group in September 2006, Casey was a consultant to Choice One Communications and was subsequently appointed CEO. Casey proceeded to negotiate and lead the merger of Choice One with CTC Communications, as well as the simultaneous acquisition of Conversent Communications, ultimately forming One Communications Corporation where he was appointed CEO.
Prior to Choice One, Mr. Casey was Chairman of Kepaca Ltd. from 1998 to 2001. He held various positions at Global Crossing Ltd. and its affiliates, including roles as Vice Chairman and a year as CEO, during which he was responsible for the initial financing of Pacific Crossing and the formation of the Japan JV (GAL). Mr. Casey has also served as a Managing Director and co-head of Merrill Lynch Company’s Global Communications Investment Banking Group. He was a partner and co-head of the telecommunications and media group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and was a partner at the law firm of Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo P.C. in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Casey began his career as the Deputy Chief and Acting Chief of the Common Carrier Bureau and as assistant to the Chairman and Assistant to The Chief of the Cable Television Bureau at the FCC. Prior to these roles, he served on the trial staff of the US Justice Department’s antitrust case against the Bell System. Casey holds a B.A. from Boston College and a J.D. from George Washington University Law School.
Mark Simpson
Director and Chief Executive Officer
Mark Simpson was appointed CEO of Pacific Crossing in January 2008. Simpson was recently Chief Operating Officer of Asia Netcom, a position he had held since September 2006. He previously served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Senior Vice President with a focus on restructuring efforts at Asia Netcom and its predecessor Asia Global Crossing from 2001 to 2004. Prior to Asia Netcom, Simpson served as CEO of C2C Pte. Ltd., Asia's largest cable system. During the 1990's, he co-founded, built and sold an innovative consulting company specializing in customer care in the Asia Pacific region. For 15 years, he held a wide variety of senior management roles at Telstra, Australia's leading telecom carrier.
Michael A. Kramer
Director
Mr. Michael Kramer is a partner at the the financial services firm of Perella Weinberg Partners. Prior to joining Perella Weinberg Partners, Mr. Kramer was Founder and Managing Director of Kramer Capital Partners, an investment banking firm that provided financial advisory services to constituents in a broad range of restructuring and corporate finance transactions. Mr. Kramer’s prior experience included: the Head of Financial Restructuring and a member of the Management Committee at Greenhill & Co.; co-Head of the Eastern Region of Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin where he ran the Mergers and Acquisitions and Financial Restructuring businesses. Mr. Kramer received a B.S. from California State University at Northridge.
Brian Kushner
Director
Dr. Brian Kushner served as President and CEO of Pacific Crossing from 2002 through December 2006. Dr. Kushner has served as a director since January 2006. A co-founder and principal at CXO, LLC, his career has spanned 25 years of executive and senior operating positions in technology and telecommunications companies. Kushner has served as an operating executive or in an executive advisory capacity with more than 20 companies. He was founder and CEO of Recompute, one of the first companies to bundle PCs and Internet service. Kushner began his career at BDM International, Inc. where he held numerous senior positions. In recognition of his industry leadership, Kushner won the prestigious KPMG ICE Entrepreneur of the Year award and testified before U.S. House and Senate Committees, National Research Council, and U.S. Competitiveness Council on issues of internet usage, security and PC recycling. He has a Ph.D. in applied and engineering physics with a minor in electrical engineering from Cornell University.
John Nusbaum
Director
John Nusbaum is a Partner at Strategic Value Partners. Prior to joining the Investment Manager, Mr. Nusbaum was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager for U.S. distressed investments and selected private financings at GSO Capital Partners, a $3.0Bn credit-focused hedge fund. From 2003 to 2005, Mr. Nusbaum was a Senior Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Sandell Asset Management, a $4.5Bn multi-strategy hedge fund where he focused principally on US and International credit and distressed opportunities in the airline/aircraft, energy/power, gaming and banking industries. Mr. Nusbaum has been active on various creditors’ committees including United Airlines, Air Canada, Northwest Airlines, Delta Airlines, Drax Group Plc and Capex SA. From 1999 to 2003, Mr. Nusbaum was a Partner and Managing Director at Moore Strategic Value Partners Japan, a Tokyo-based joint venture between Moore Capital Management and Strategic Value Partners focused on Japanese distressed investments. Mr. Nusbaum was Portfolio Manager for corporate investments. From 1994 to 1997, Mr. Nusbaum was a Senior Analyst for distressed investments at both Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch. Mr. Nusbaum received a B.S. from the University of Virginia in 1989 and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in 1994.

Joe Sinyor
Director
Joe Sinyor is an Operational Managing Director with Strategic Value Partners in London. Prior to joining the Investment Manager, he was an Operational Managing Director at Terra Firma Capital Partners, a leading European Private Equity firm, where he was responsible for a number of portfolio companies.
Mr Sinyor has been CEO or Managing Director of several major companies since 1990, including Trinity Mirror Newspapers plc, the largest UK newspaper publisher; Sony Consumer Electronics business in the UK; and, Dillons Bookstores. He was a non Executive Director of Channel4 Television Corporation from 1997 to 2003. From 1985 to 1990, Mr Sinyor was a consultant with McKinsey, the leading international strategy consulting firm. He graduated with a B.A. from Jesus College, Cambridge in 1978 and with an M.B.A. from London Business School in 1983. |
